Once your covers and sewn bookblocks are ready, we'll bind them using our EMP binding line, attaching the bookblocks to their hardback covers. Every book receives a final quality check before being packaged for dispatch.

Step 6: Dispatch and Delivery

Your completed books are carefully packaged into protective single-skin cardboard boxes with bubble wrap padding, then placed in double-skinned boxes.

We dispatch your order using DPD, Parcelforce, or pallet courier, ensuring your books arrive safely and promptly. Express delivery is available for urgent projects.

Yearbooks vs Leavers Books

You may have come across the terms Yearbooks and Leavers Books. While these terms are often used interchangeably, there are subtle differences to consider.

What is a Yearbook?

A yearbook is an annual publication that documents a school's entire academic year. It includes photographs of students, teachers, school events, class trips, sports teams, and various clubs or societies. Yearbooks are often comprehensive, capturing highlights and providing a complete view of the entire school community.

What is a Leavers Book?

Leavers books, on the other hand, specifically celebrate students who are leaving the school. These books usually feature final-year pupils moving from primary to secondary education, secondary school to college, or sixth form to university. These leavers books often feature more personalised content, such as student profiles, messages from teachers and friends, memorable moments specific to the leavers’  and heartfelt goodbye messages.

Custom Book Covers

Custom School Leavers Books

At Imprint Digital, we can help you create custom yearbooks and leavers books to leave a lasting impression, from various sizes, paper types and unique finishes.

Book Sizes

The most popular size yearbooks are A4 format however, if you are looking for more budget friendly options, smaller sizes such as Royal (234 x 156mm) are a great choice. We can even print and bind up to 310mm square for that very special leavers books.

Paper Types

We commonly print yearbooks on coated paper, ranging from 115gsm to 150gsm. Coated papers such as silk or matt, are best to use with picture heavy books. You can combine paper types such as uncoated papers for text and coated papers for pictures of the students and teachers.

Thread Sewn Binding

Any yearbook that is printed as a hardback will be thread-sewn as standard. This is the best binding type for any book if you want your leavers to keep their books for years to pass down through their family.

Cover Options and Laminations

If you are having your yearbooks as a paperback books we will print the covers on a 260gsm Incada cover and either gloss, matt or soft-touch laminate. If you want a special leavers book as hardback we have more options available. Our regular hardback books will be on a printed paper case (PPC) or you can opt for a cloth cover with dustjacket.

Foil, Embossing and Spot UV

Both yearbooks and leavers books can have unique finishes on the covers. From foil blocking in gold or silver on the PPC or cloth covers, to embossing and spot-UV on the PPC or dustjackets.

Inserts, Fold-Outs, Endpapers and more

To make your books stand out and offer your students something very special, we offer additional extras for the internals of the books. Inserts can be on various paper types and sizes. For example if you wanted your yearbook to have a full school picture we can print this on a large insert to be bound into the book that folds out. Printed endpapers for the hardbacks are also available.

Ribbon Markers and Headbands

Hardback books can be customised with optional ribbon markers and decorative head and tail bands. These come in various different colours from Winter & Company.

I wanted to turn my husband’s holiday journal into a ‘proper’ book for his birthday but didn’t have a clue on where to start. I saw Imprint Digital online when I started googling and clicked on their website site. I am SO glad I did!From the first moment they guided me through what to do, always available to chat and to advise. This was my first venture into self-publishing. I was a little apprehensive, especially when it came to accurate colour reproduction. However, I needn't have worried. The samples book which Imprint Digital initially supplied gave me confidence. An excellent intoduction to the whole printing process and let me see the quality and feel of the different papers available for different purposes. As a complete novice to self-publishing, I had no idea how to go about the publication of my collection of short stories. In searching for printers who might take on a short print run, I was impressed by the presentation and positive attitude of Imprint Digital. When I contacted them they explained the processes involved; I had not realised that my first step was toward a typesetter rather than a printer. Since Imprint work well with selected typesetters I was able to get the whole project completed in one place with no misunderstandings. In addition both typesetter and printer were helpful and sympathetic, explaining what could and could not be achieved – essential for a beginner whose editor had higher standards than most. It goes without saying (but I insist on saying it anyway) that Imprint do a fine job in producing a very professional-looking result, with both efficiency and kindness, and I could not recommend their services more highly.

I'd never heard of Imprint Digital but when it came to looking for a printer to produce my book on the 1974 Flixborough disaster I resorted to Google, Imprint Digital were highlighted and I enquired further with them.It wasn't a small order, 500 hardback books of nearly 400 pages (63,000 words) in A4 with 200 colour and black and white photographs/maps and diagrams.I'd never written a book before so asked for advice and suggestions, Evie was the pre-production assistant who took me by the hand and guided me through the entire process !Nothing was too much trouble for her and her replies to my constant emails were almost instant and always within a few hours at worst. She added the title to the spine, helped direct me for an ISBN number, pointed out any little layout issues and many other things.I was sent a very clever 'guide to paper type, layout, font sizes and 'french flaps' to name a few, this guide was free of charge and helped me decide how to go about things and also that Imprint Digital were the people to go to!I had 3 different proof copies sent to me, all were received within a week of me sending yet another revised file and all at no extra cost!The quality is excellent and no payment was required until the order was sent to print.When it came to printing and despatch, I suggested a date and the pallet arrived at my home address by 10 am the morning after it had left their unit in Exeter some 280 miles away.I cannot speak highly enough of Imprint Digital and would recomend others use them. I will certainly be using them again for any subsequent printing jobs.I wish I could give them 10 stars !!!!

I arrived at Digital Imprint with a folder of 300 images which I wanted to make into a graphic novel. They first offered good advice by recommending some excellent typesetters who set to work and created the actual novel. Digital Imprint then liaised with the typesetters for the print run. Evie and the team were quick and efficient with an excellent level of communication throughout. They made everything easy and stress-free! Highly recommended.

Writing a memoir for my ailing brother was enough of a challenge for a small group of friends and family. Getting it printed though could not have been easier with Imprint Digital, especially the hugely supportive Evie. Never done anything like it before but with a metaphoric holding of the hand she guided me through the process with consulate ease. As a complete novice, when it came to preparing my manuscript for printing I needed a lot of help and advice. Recently completed my father's memoirs with Imprint Digital and couldn't recommend them highly enough. We worked with Evie, who was a pleasure to deal with, and made the whole process very straight forward. They sent out a physical proof of the book which allowed us to make final tweaks and gave us great peace mind about the final product. The book production has a real wow factor and has been much commented on. It looks as good if not better than most professional autobiographies I have read. It's a minefield for the uninitiated to select a company to print your book, but I would not hesitate to recommend them or work with them again in the future.

We came to Imprint Digital after much searching on the web and having previously had a proof made by one of the big online, self-publishing companies. Right from the get-go, the company were very responsive, provided us with a sample of their work and a very useful guidebook, that helps newbies like us.
