Step 2: Upload Your Files

After confirming your order, upload your print-ready files (we accept PDFs). We’ll check your files to ensure everything meets our guidelines for digital printing.

Step 3: Review Your Proof

Before printing, we will supply you with a digital copy of your hardcover and a sample PDF of the text. Check these thoroughly to make sure the cover fits on the boards as you intended.

Step 4: Printing Begins

Once you've approved the files we start by printing the covers and producing the hardcover cases. At the same time we print the text and start sewing the printed sheets into bookblocks.

Step 5: Binding

When all the material is printed, sewn and the hardcovers are made, we then use our EMP binding line to case the books. This is where the bookblocks are fixed to the board covers. A final quality check is completed before dispatch.

Step 6: Dispatch and Delivery

Your books are packaged into single-skin cardboard boxes with lots of bubble wrap before being placed in larger double-skinned boxes.  We dispatch via DPD, Parcelforce or Pallet courier, arriving safely and promptly at your door. Express delivery options are available for urgent projects.

Because every journal is unique, we offer extensive customisation options. Paper Types

Our papers for journals range from 70gsm uncoated paper to 200gsm. We can print on many different substrates and offer custom papers if needed. We can provide designs for lined paper or dotted paper or you can provide your own design.

Thread Sewn Binding

Thread-sewn binding is a premium option for your journal. It enables your book to layflat while providing the best durability and protection for the inside pages.

Cover Options and Laminations

For paperback journals we print the covers on a 260gsm card and laminate it for protection. Hardback books can have a PPC or Wibalin cover with many different finishes. Wiro books can have either of the above cover options. Laminations on offer are gloss, matt and soft-touch matt.

Foil, Embossing and Spot UV

We offer various cover finishes to make your journal unique. From a range of cover foils such as gold, silver, white and many more to embossing, debossing and Spot UV.

Ribbon Markers and Headbands

If you opt for a hardback journal, we can provide a range of extras only available to hardback book printing. Marker ribbons can be added in a range of colours and head and tail bands can be added to cover the binding.

I wanted to turn my husband’s holiday journal into a ‘proper’ book for his birthday but didn’t have a clue on where to start. I saw Imprint Digital online when I started googling and clicked on their website site. I am SO glad I did!From the first moment they guided me through what to do, always available to chat and to advise. I was concerned that I was getting all this help and I was only going to be buying the minimum of 10 books, but they were fabulous! Particularly Louise who never once led me wrong and talked me through the right font, spacing, designing and anything else I threw at her! This was my first venture into self-publishing. I was a little apprehensive, especially when it came to accurate colour reproduction. However, I needn't have worried. The samples book which Imprint Digital initially supplied gave me confidence. An excellent intoduction to the whole printing process and let me see the quality and feel of the different papers available for different purposes. As a complete novice to self-publishing, I had no idea how to go about the publication of my collection of short stories. In searching for printers who might take on a short print run, I was impressed by the presentation and positive attitude of Imprint Digital. When I contacted them they explained the processes involved; I had not realised that my first step was toward a typesetter rather than a printer. Since Imprint work well with selected typesetters I was able to get the whole project completed in one place with no misunderstandings. In addition both typesetter and printer were helpful and sympathetic, explaining what could and could not be achieved – essential for a beginner whose editor had higher standards than most. It goes without saying (but I insist on saying it anyway) that Imprint do a fine job in producing a very professional-looking result, with both efficiency and kindness, and I could not recommend their services more highly.

I'd never heard of Imprint Digital but when it came to looking for a printer to produce my book on the 1974 Flixborough disaster I resorted to Google, Imprint Digital were highlighted and I enquired further with them.It wasn't a small order, 500 hardback books of nearly 400 pages (63,000 words) in A4 with 200 colour and black and white photographs/maps and diagrams.I'd never written a book before so asked for advice and suggestions, Evie was the pre-production assistant who took me by the hand and guided me through the entire process !Nothing was too much trouble for her and her replies to my constant emails were almost instant and always within a few hours at worst. She added the title to the spine, helped direct me for an ISBN number, pointed out any little layout issues and many other things.I was sent a very clever 'guide to paper type, layout, font sizes and 'french flaps' to name a few, this guide was free of charge and helped me decide how to go about things and also that Imprint Digital were the people to go to!I had 3 different proof copies sent to me, all were received within a week of me sending yet another revised file and all at no extra cost!The quality is excellent and no payment was required until the order was sent to print.When it came to printing and despatch, I suggested a date and the pallet arrived at my home address by 10 am the morning after it had left their unit in Exeter some 280 miles away.I cannot speak highly enough of Imprint Digital and would recomend others use them. I will certainly be using them again for any subsequent printing jobs.I wish I could give them 10 stars !!!!

Recently completed my father's memoirs with Imprint Digital and couldn't recommend them highly enough. We worked with Evie, who was a pleasure to deal with, and made the whole process very straight forward. They sent out a physical proof of the book which allowed us to make final tweaks and gave us great peace mind about the final product. The book production has a real wow factor and has been much commented on. It looks as good if not better than most professional autobiographies I have read. It's a minefield for the uninitiated to select a company to print your book, but I would not hesitate to recommend them or work with them again in the future.

We can't recommend Imprint Digital highly enough! We've used them for years and every book printed has been great quality at a fair price. Recently they helped us get a print run completed to meet our really tight deadline too. A super team - always ready to offer advice,if needed.

We came to Imprint Digital after much searching on the web and having previously had a proof made by one of the big online, self-publishing companies. Right from the get-go, the company were very responsive, provided us with a sample of their work and a very useful guidebook, that helps newbies like us. They were also very patient, answering many questions from someone who knows little about the print process. The final product did not disappoint, on time, well packed, high quality and at a competitive price. Would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a small book run.
