Book Sizes

Paper Types

Gatefolds (French-flaps)
We can offer French-flaps on all paperback books from A5 to A4. These are 8-page covers, similar to a dustjacket on a hardcover book. The cover extends beyond the text and is folded back in on itself.

This was my first venture into self-publishing. I was a little apprehensive, especially when it came to accurate colour reproduction. However, I needn't have worried. The samples book which Imprint Digital initially supplied gave me confidence. As a complete novice to self-publishing, I had no idea how to go about the publication of my collection of short stories. In searching for printers who might take on a short print run, I was impressed by the presentation and positive attitude of Imprint Digital. When I contacted them they explained the processes involved; I had not realised that my first step was toward a typesetter rather than a printer. Since Imprint work well with selected typesetters I was able to get the whole project completed in one place with no misunderstandings. In addition both typesetter and printer were helpful and sympathetic, explaining what could and could not be achieved – essential for a beginner whose editor had higher standards than most. It goes without saying (but I insist on saying it anyway) that Imprint do a fine job in producing a very professional-looking result, with both efficiency and kindness, and I could not recommend their services more highly.

It wasn't a small order, 500 hardback books of nearly 400 pages (63,000 words) in A4 with 200 colour and black and white photographs/maps and diagrams.
I'd never written a book before so asked for advice and suggestions, Evie was the pre-production assistant who took me by the hand and guided me through the entire process !
Nothing was too much trouble for her and her replies to my constant emails were almost instant and always within a few hours at worst. She added the title to the spine, helped direct me for an ISBN number, pointed out any little layout issues and many other things.
I was sent a very clever 'guide to paper type, layout, font sizes and 'french flaps' to name a few, this guide was free of charge and helped me decide how to go about things and also that Imprint Digital were the people to go to!
I had 3 different proof copies sent to me, all were received within a week of me sending yet another revised file and all at no extra cost!

Recently completed my father's memoirs with Imprint Digital and couldn't recommend them highly enough.
